The Parish Pastoral Team

 

The principal agency that affects pastoral life is the Parish Pastoral Team:

  • Is accountable to the Bishop through the parish priest who preserves the unity of the Team and guides it in its pastoral decision making.

  • Inspires and enables the leadership of the baptised.

  • Decides on pastoral strategy.

  • Draws on the wisdom of the Parish.

The Parish Pastoral Council

The Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body representative of the membership of the parish which enables the Pastoral Team to discern the best response to the pastoral needs of the parish.
 

Vision of the Parish Pastoral Council

In order to embrace the present and prepare for the future members are called and commissioned to assist the Parish Pastoral Team identify and empower all the baptised to leadership in the parish and wider community.
 

Mission

Members live out this vision by assisting the Parish Pastoral Team to:

  • discern how to lead the baptized to take up this call to leadership.

  • deepen their own understanding of contemporary Catholic theology.

  • study the pastoral realities of the Elizabeth community.

  • develop a pastoral plan of action centered on the key areas of pastoral life.

  • reach out and invite all into union with the inclusive Catholic community.

  • reflect on the local pastoral realities in the light of the Diocesan and Universal Church.

 

 

The Parish Finance Council

Like the Parish Pastoral Council, the Parish Finance Council is a consultative body representative of the membership of the parish which enables the Pastoral Team discern the best response to the financial and administrative needs of the parish.
 

Vision of the Parish Finance Council

The members that constitute the Council are composed of people who have financial and administrative gifts which they offer for the benefit of the pastoral team and wider parish. Members have a capacity to listen and reflect upon what is happening in the social and spiritual realities of parishioner' lives and suggest ways of responding financially and administratively.

Hence, the Parish Finance Council:

  • is not an administrative body.

 

Mission

Members live out this vision by assisting the Parish Pastoral Team to:

  • models the call to leadership of all the baptised.

  • discerns the financial matters relevant to the parish.

 

 

The Liturgical Life Council

One of the four key dimensions of the parish vision explicitly concerns the liturgical life of the parish focussed on the Sunday Eucharist and other liturgical celebrations.
 

Vision of the Liturgical Life Council

The Elizabeth Catholic Parish Liturgical Life Council (LLC) enables parishioners to live out the parish vision in their liturgical, prayer and ritual life.
 

Mission

Members live out this vision by assisting the Parish Pastoral Team to:

  • enable parishioners to participate fully and actively in all liturgical celebrations.

  • defines ways of educating parishioners in liturgy.

  • encourages formation in the various liturgical ministries.

  • plans, implements and evaluates liturgical celebrations.

  • studies key liturgical documents and looks for ways to grow in liturgical appreciation.
